They may often snore so loud that they wake themselves up, and then feel very groggy the next day and not being able to concentrate. They may even almost fall asleep while they are at their places of work. This may sound like a major problem, but a new study has indicated that there could be even more severe problems related to snoring. In fact, new studies suggest that snoring could increase your risk of developing heart disease and other health problems down the road.

In this study, researchers at the University of Pittsburgh asked over 800 people between the ages of 45 and 74 about their sleep quality. After three long years, the people whom reported that they snore loudly while sleeping were more than twice as likely in opposed to people that do not snore loudly to have metabolic syndrome, which is a cluster of risk factors for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke that includes high blood pressure, high blood sugar, low cholesterol levels, high triglycerides, and excess fat in their stomach.

People who reported having trouble falling asleep or who woke up feeling groggy, or like they did not have a good night’s sleep occurring at least three times per week were about 80 percent, and 70 percent more likely than quiet sleepers to develop three of more of the risk factors listed above. In other words, if you have a snoring problem, it could have a major negative impact on your life. Therefore, you should get treated right away.

If you have any comments about this post, please leave them below in our comments section. However, it has been noticed that the problem most often occurs in women that are over the age of 60, or women that are going through a pregnancy.

Believe it or not, although men are more likely to suffer from snoring than women, but for men it is only a physical thing. When it comes to a snoring problem for women it can actually affect them psychologically as well. Since society has labeled snoring men as something that is seen as being masculine and “manly-like”, women feel that when they snore it is embarrassing or not very lady like.

The problem can certainly run much deeper with women than just the fact that they are losing some well-needed sleep, and it can also affect their partner. The embarrassment that this can cause for women can be mild, but it can also be much more serious than that. Snoring women may actually begin to suffer from self-esteem levels beginning to fall. They also may be weary of entering a relationship with men, because of their embarrassing problem.

That being said if you are a woman that snores you are not alone and there are narrowing of airways mainly in your throat that restricts the amount of air that you breathe while you are trying to sleep. When you are asleep, the muscles in the back of your throat are in their most relaxed state. As you begin to inhale and exhale, the soft tissues in the back of your throat begin to vibrate, and that is what makes your snore. However, airflow can also be restricted through the nasal passages when you breathe through your nose. This is usually contributed to colds, allergies or a stuffy nose, which will then force you to breathe through your mouth, and that can lead to your snoring problem.

Age also plays a factor when it comes to snoring. As you get older, your throat will become narrower, and the muscle tone in your throat will begin to decrease. If you are a man, you are also more likely to snore than women. The reason for this is because men have a typically more narrow air passage than women, due to having naturally bulkier necks.

Snoring problems have also been associated with your weight. If you are overweight, your throat tissues can be less firm, that means they are more likely to vibrate when you breathe. Also, smoking has been known to create snoring problems. Smoke can irritate the back of your throat, and it can cause tissue damage, which will cause your airways to become inflamed, and then snoring problems will begin to arise. If you are a drinker of alcoholic beverages, you may want to limit yourself. Drinking will cause you to become more relaxed, which also mean that the muscles in the back of your throat become relaxed, which can instigate snoring problems.

If you know of any more causes of snoring, please leave a comment below.

A Link Between Psychiatry and Sleep Apnea?

Sleep Apnea

Snoring and Health

Snoring Causes

Stop Snoring

causes of snoring

cure snoring

root cause of snoring

sleep apnea

sleep apnea treatments

snoring

snoring causes

snoring cures

snoring news

snoring problem

snoring remedies

some psychiatric conditions. Those symptoms include chronic fatigue, inappropriate times of sleepiness, irritability, and insomnia. Given the similar symptoms, it made sense to begin testing their patients to find out if they were at risk for sleep apnea. It was found that 56% of those tested had abnormal oximetry results (oxygen monitoring), meaning that they were diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea. Treating those patients for sleep apnea more than likely alleviated some of the symptoms of their psychiatric conditions as well.

The psychiatric patient screening was done through a simple eight-question survey asking for yes or no answers that asked about snoring, tiredness, body mass index, age over 50 and a large neck circumference. The given answers to the questions determined whether the patient was at risk for sleep apnea and gave an indication as to whether the patient needed additional treatment. In treating the sleep apnea problem, the patients were then able to focus more on their mood or associative problems.

It was noted that those patients would have gone undiagnosed for their sleep apnea problems if the routine screening for the condition had not been implemented. That means that they would still be suffering the effects of the problem as well as their psychiatric condition.

Please post your opinion of these findings, as well as any experience you have with these studies or treatements.

A Couple of Hints to Reduce Snoring

Snoring Causes

Snoring Cures and Remedies

Stop Snoring

causes of snoring

cure snoring

root cause of snoring

sleep apnea

snoring

snoring cause

snoring cures

snoring news

snoring problem

snoring remedies

snoring remedy

snoring treatments

sleep on feather pillows, which are more likely to contain dust mites. People that usually do not have any problems in the day time suddenly become congested shortly after their head hits the pillow, causing them to breathe through their mouths and snore.

You should also avoid sleeping on your back. This allows the tongue and the lower jaw to slide back, blocking or constricting the airway causing snoring. Another suggestion is to raise the head of your bed slightly or sleep with more than one pillow, helping to keep the bottom jaw forward. This reduces the instance of snoring.

If you have other tips to reduce or eliminate snoring, please share them here. There are many treatments available, so let us know what works for you.

Is Your Thyroid Ruining Your Sleep?

Snoring and Health

Snoring Causes

Snoring Cures and Remedies

Stop Snoring

apnea treatment

causes of snoring

cure snoring

root cause of snoring

sleep apnea

snoring

snoring cause

snoring causes

snoring cures

snoring diagnostics tool

snoring information

snoring remedy

snoring treatments

evaluated the results from removal or reduction of the thyroid in the treatment of OSA. The patients with OSA that had the surgery were asked to complete a survey regarding their symptoms before and after the surgery in order to determine if it relieved some of their symptoms. The results showed a reduction in the number of patients that were at risk for severe OSA (51% versus the original 71%) for the patients that went through the surgical procedure.

Given the fact that OSA is such a complex condition, the information given in this study is one more step in finding a metabolic syndrome. This condition has a combination of symptoms that combine, causing risks to overall health. Symptoms such as high blood pressure, Type II diabetes, and weight gain are symptoms that combine to cause other conditions such as heart and kidney disease. One of the biggest problems is that the body does not produce the proper amount of insulin to convert sugars in the blood to energy. Instead, those sugars manifest themselves in fatty tissue and a high blood glucose level that can lead to coma if left without treatment.

A snoring problem is not just about the noise the snorer causes, nor is it about the lack of sleep for those that listen to it. It is a matter of life and death for some people. With the health risks that are involved, it is important to get the treatment you need in order to subdue the snoring and treat other physical problems that arise. That loud noise is a sure sign that Just like having a mistress in the marriage, the snoring becomes the wedge that can dissolve the relationship.

The suggestion is that the couple should sit down and decide how to treat the snoring problem, rather than giving in to an ingrained urge to complain with a feeling of helplessness. In discussing the problem rationally different options can come to light, and there is bound to be one that satisfies both in the marriage. There is plenty of information on snoring cures available, so Palmer-Forks Patch in Pennsylvania, USA. Tamara Kells tells the tale of how her husband’s snoring helped motherhood become a bit easier.

It’s no surprise that babies cry. Even when they are not hungry, their diapers are dry, and they seem to have everything they need for a night’s sleep, they still cry. More often than not, certain sounds or motions will help them to drift off into slumber. In this case, was Tamara’s husband that provided the solution.

He would place the baby on his chest, kick back in his recliner, and drift off to sleep and snore. Time after time, Tamara watched her babies fall asleep to that loud bunch of noise. But the babies loved it. It worked every time. Even when they were older, thunderstorms would scare them into their parents’ bed. But sleeping bags on the floor and Daddy’s snoring put them down for the count each night, with them waking up fresh every morning. But the fact is that Daddy might have suffered through those nights when he gave his children comfort in the noise.

For more information on snoring and its causes, you should another recent study, and the results may surprise you. Researchers at the University of Brescia, Italy found that using full-length compression stockings reduces snoring and the periods of apnea during sleep. The stockings are normally used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) in the legs as well as to regulate blood flow through the legs. However, the researchers discovered that controlling fluid retention in the legs during the day with the stockings reduced the accumulation of fluids to neck at night.

The patients studied were known to have Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI), which prompts fluid collection in the legs. The research showed that with the use of the stockings there was a 62% reduction in overnight leg fluid volume change and a 60% reduction in the neck circumference increase in association with a 32% reduction is the number of apneas per hour of sleep. It was concluded that the redistribution of fluid from the legs into the neck at night plays a causative role in OSA, and the prevention of fluid accumulation in the legs in the daytime and its redistribution to neck at night reduces OSA in patients with CVI.

This research shows that <a
